This is a full time (37.5 hours per week), 3-year (initially) appointment, within a military specialist unit.

Overall purpose of post:

To be part of a multidisciplinary human performance team, supporting people to meet the high demands of working within a specialist military unit. As part of the psychological team, you will be expected to actively engage with service personnel, deliver high quality presentations, provide 1-1 support, and contribute to the wider human performance programme. You will also liaise and work with the clinical team to support the mental health strategy.

Person Specification:

You must have:

• A BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, Psychology or relevant subject.
• A MSc in Psychology.
• British Psychological Society Chartership, CASES Accreditation or equivalent registration. Candidates in training will be considered.
• HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist or ability to gain registration within one year of employment.
• Full UK driver's licence.
• The ability to work in performance domains (e.g., sports, business, military, medical or blue-light services).
• The ability to work engage with a diverse range of high performing adult clients.
• The ability to provide 1-1 support to adult clients.
• The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• The ability to work deliver and interpret psychological assessments.
• The ability to deliver high quality presentations to groups.
• The ability to conduct data management and analysis.

Desirable education and experience:

• Doctoral level qualification (i.e., PhD, Professional Doctorate) in a subject relevant to performance psychology (e.g., sport psychology, occupational psychology, clinical psychology).
• Additional qualifications related to psychological practice (e.g., addiction counselling, family therapy, CBT, REBT, CBTi etc).
• Any other relevant professional qualifications or training (e.g., supervision, psychometric training, data science, coaching).

Job Specification

You will be:

• Creating, delivering, and stewarding the psychology element of the Human Performance programme at the unit level.
• Responsible for ensuring that the unit can embrace the latest advancements in psychological science.
• Responsible to authoring reports and delivering updates to the unit human performance lead and human performance management team.
• Conducting group presentations and 1-1 sessions.
• Conducting psychological screening.
• Liaising and collaborating with the mental health team, to deliver elements of the upstream prevention. Where applicable, you will be signposting people to the clinical mental health team for further support.
• Conducting the gathering of data, and management of this data, to support the delivery of the human performance programme.
• Working with the unit to help create a psychological safe space environment.
• Working alongside the other elements of the human performance Team to ensure an integrated approach to health and wellbeing.
