7th May 2026

CASES Technical Special Interest Group has been invited to run a workshop with the UK Institute of Technical Skills and Strategy on ‘Let’s talk about Technicians: Careers in Sport Science’. Neil Guthrie, Amelia Dingley MCASES and Alishia Rockson will be on the Panel.
This workshop is a chance to hear from Sports Science technicians, about their career stories, challenges, insights and advice. This online session is part of the ITSS SpringFest 2026 programme; open to technical staff working in Higher Education and Research Education Institutions in the UK.
Technical staff in Sports, Health and Exercise Science perform various vital roles as lab technicians, teaching technicians, research specialists, technical instructors and many other roles. This online session is a chance to meet with Sports Technicians in an informal setting and to hear about their career development. They will discuss challenges they face and their top tips for having a successful technical career. This is an opportunity to hear about how you can contribute to a survey that is seeking to build a clearer picture of the technical workforce.
There will be presentations and talks followed by an informal discussion session where you will have the opportunity to ask questions. This workshop will be of interest to current Sports, Health and Exercise technicians and other technical professionals who are interested in finding out more about this area of work.
