Meet the Heads of Department Advisory Group and November Forum Announced

The CASES Heads of Department (HoD) Forum was established to offer a day of information, interaction, discussion and networking for Sport and Exercise Science Department Heads and Course Leaders.
Now into its 22nd year, the Forum remains a highly popular event at which key topical issues are debated, and best practice is discussed and shared.
CASES is proud to introduce the advisory group who volunteer time and energy into the Forum as they plan for the next event on 12 November 10am - 12 noon (online).

Martyn Morris is currently Head of Department at the University of Hertfordshire. Now in his second year as chair of the group, he is a sport and exercise physiologist by trade, with his research is in the area of adaptation to training with a particular focus on neuromuscular fatigue and its impact on exercise tolerance and physical activity participation.

Steve Hunter Visiting Fellow at London South Bank University. CASES Accredited (Physiology). Senior Fellow (HEA); CSci Status. Extensive academic experience (management and quality) developing & delivering academic programmes in sport and exercise science. Experienced external examiner. Research interests: Physical Activity and Health; Strength and Conditioning; Exercise Testing and Evaluation; Environmental Physiology.

Clare Pheasey is a Senior Lecturer at Keele University and has been a CASES member since 1993. Accredited in Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology (2000) and Pedagogy (2007), Clare brings expertise in curriculum design, professional practice, and student engagement to the HoD Forum, shaped by academic leadership and applied work across national sport organisations.

Jessica Hill is Executive Dean of the Faculty of Sport, Technology and Health Science at St Mary’s University. A physiologist by background, Jessica has extensive applied experience working in elite sport and health settings, alongside a strong record in academic leadership. She is passionate about developing innovative education and research that bridges the gap between theory and practice.

Currently at University of East London, Stewart Bruce-Low is strategically leading on delivering strategic objectives to enhance academic standards/quality, participation, progression and student academic experience. Previously as Head of Applied Sport & Exercise Science, he was responsible for designing and implementing strategy to improve metrics around research, teaching & knowledge exchange. He is a strategic leader with extensive experience in board governance, advisory roles, and stakeholder engagement.
