The School of Sport, Health, and Exercise Science (SHES) sits within the Faculty of Science and Health,

top-10 UK and top-100 Global centre boasting thematically aligned education that is informed by, and
informs, societally relevant research and innovation activities.
The SHES is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to a full-time Lectureship in
Skill Acquisition. The successful candidate will engage in teaching, assessment, supervision, and tutoring
of students across the BSc and MSc sport and exercise psychology provision and be primarily located
within the Individual, Occupational and Organisational Performance (IOOP) school-wide thematic area of
expertise. Further to this, there will also be requirement to contribute to research activities in the School
via engagement in high quality research/income generation.
We welcome applications from individuals with a strong knowledge of theory, research, and applied
practice in skill acquisition. The skill and human movement strand within IOOP has existing expertise in
perceptual-motor skills across the lifespan, with research conducted in collaboration with varying
performance domains from elite sports to health and safety practice. Applications from individuals with
research expertise in areas such as open science, coordination dynamics or psychophysiological
approaches in skill acquisition are encouraged.
School of Sport, Health, and Exercise Science
The school has ~45 academic staff and 950 students. Recent investments have supported our student
learning experiences, research environment, and estate developments to extend beyond the current
accommodation within the Spinnaker Building. The school features skill acquisition equipment including
Tobii eye-tracking, PLATO occlusion goggles, and human movement facilities including Qualisys motion
capture, EMG and isokinetic dynamometry, a suite of environmental chambers, and access to clinical
teaching and simulation facilities through the Faculty of Science and Health.
