THE ROLE
A unique opportunity has arisen to join the Performance team at Rangers Football Club Academy as Professional Phase Sport Scientist/Physical Coach. The full-time position will be based at the Training Centre reporting to the Head of Academy Performance for a fixed term of 1 year. The purpose of this role is to develop, lead and deliver the Sport Science / S&C strategy to the B team in the Academy. There will also be a requirement to assist in the delivery of all aspects of the Academy performance strategy as required. 

Your responsibilities will include the following: 

• Development and implementation of all aspects of the physical development strategy for the B team at Rangers FC Academy. 

This should include, but is not limited to: 

• Delivering a holistic strategy to both maximise squad and individual physical performance and physical development.
• In line with the Club's training methodology, create both long- and short-term training plans which are appropriately periodised.
• Assist with the management of the Club's tracking technology, including data collection, analysis and database management. Provide daily and weekly recommendations regarding session organisation, content, volume and intensity. Deliver concise and user-friendly squad and individual feedback to both technical staff and players.
• Deliver effective on-pitch sessions to maximise and develop the physical capacities required to perform at an elite level. Ensure that players are appropriately physically prepared for each session.
• Work alongside the medical team to develop and deliver safe and effective return to play protocols.
• Carry out regular physical performance testing along with the associated interpretation and reporting of results.
• Create and deliver team and individualised strength programs.
• At games, ensure all players, starting and non-starting, are appropriately prepared to perform. Design and deliver sessions for those players requiring additional physical training.
• Deliver a coach and player education programme. Coach education should be aimed at maximising physical performance and development through training planning and practices. Player education should aim to holistically educate and empower players in areas such as training, recovery, lifestyle and nutrition.
• Assist with the performance support of B team loan players.
• Regularly liaise with the RFC Performance team to share information and ensure common practice.
• Support and drive the overall culture of the Academy. 

THE CANDIDATE
Job Knowledge:
• Experience working in an elite sporting environment in a Sport Science or related role.
• Experience working in a Team environment.
• Experience working in football. 

Education and Qualifications:
• Essential: BSc in Sport Science or related field.
• Desirable: Post graduate qualification in Sport Science or related field.

Personal Attributes:
• Engaging personality and able influencer with the ability to adapt to fresh challenges.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently to achieve all aspects of role is a prerequisite.
• Good team player, as well as ability to work on own initiative. Flexible approach to working hours is a must You must be eligible to work in the UK.
