CASES Conference Grants and Awards - abstract submission deadline 26 Jan
6th January 2026
The reimagined 2026 CASES Conference combines the Annual Conference and the Student Conference to celebrate the application of evidence-based science into practice. The event aims to be the national learning and networking experience in 2026 that will be the ‘go to’ event for academics, practitioners, students, and those working across the sport and exercise sector.
Abstract submissions and delegate early bird registration are now open for the two-day conference that will take place at Manchester Metropolitan University on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 June 2026.
Awards
The CASES Conference awards seek to reward outstanding contributions to sport and exercise sciences by conference delegates. Awards are presented for presentations (Free Communication, 5 Slides in 5 Minutes, and Poster) within Student, Early Career Researcher, and Professional categories.
All abstracts will be automatically considered for a relevant award. The Awards Panel will shortlist presentations for these awards based on the scientific merit of the abstracts.
Awards will be presented at the closing address of the Conference.

Abstract submissions are invited in the following sport and exercise science-related themes and must be submitted by 10am on Monday 26 January 2026 via the Abstract Submission portal:
1. Biomechanics and Motor Behaviour
2. Pedagogy (new for 2026!)
3. Physical Activity for Health
4. Physiology and Nutrition
5. Psychology
6. Sport and Performance
Grants
CASES Conference Grants aim to assist researchers to present at the CASES Conference. Ten grants are available, five for CASES members (regulated or non-regulated) and five for CASES Student or Graduate members.
The value of the grant is the price of conference registration for both days of the conference. Click here for further details.
How to apply: Members wishing to apply for a CASES Conference Grant must indicate this on their online abstract submission form when submitting an abstract. Members will be asked to provide details of their engagement with CASES and how the conference registration will assist them financially as regards their circumstances.
Grant criteria:
- Professional applicants must be a CASES member and have been for the past two years, i.e. since 1 June 2024.
- Student and Graduate applicants must be a CASES member and have been for the past year, i.e. since 1 June 2025.
- The applicant is the presenting author.
- The applicant has read the Terms and Conditions of the CASES Conference Grants.
- Presenting authors for free communications presentations, Poster and 5 slides in 5 minutes presentations are eligible.
- The applicant has not received a CASES Conference Grant within the past three years.
- The applicant will need to apply for the grant when submitting the abstract via the on-line submission form. Professional applicants will be asked to detail their engagement with CASES (150 words maximum) and how receiving this grant will support them financially (150 words maximum). Student / Graduate applicants will be asked how presenting at the conference will support them with their employability and personal development (150 words maximum) and how receiving the grant will support them financially (150 words maximum).
- Each application will be assessed by members of the EDI Advisory Group against their engagement with CASES and how they would benefit from a complimentary registration to attend and present at the CASES Conference.
