Expressions of interest to become a CASES Outreach Hub 2026
19th May 2026
In 2025, CASES recruited a further four outreach hubs across the UK, which brought the number of Outreach Hubs to 36. The expansion of CASES Outreach Hubs enables CASES to engage with more school students and teachers, as well as members of the public. CASES will continue to run the school and college poster competition in 2026-2027, aimed at engaging students aged between 14 and 19 years, who are studying sport and exercise science related subjects in high school and colleges. All Outreach Hubs will engage and support school students to develop information posters on topics that they have interacted with during visits to higher education institutions.
The Outreach Panel is collating data on the number of schools the hubs have engaged with, and this is looking likely to be above 150 schools and colleges in the UK.
CASES is now looking to recruit more institutions around the UK, especially those in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, to act as CASES Outreach Hubs in 2026-27.
Each Outreach Hub will recruit local schools and colleges (geographical area) to take part in one-day workshops at the Outreach Hub. The workshops can be tailored to the expertise at the Outreach Hub but will look to enrich the learning and understanding of sport and exercise science in relation to the students’ studies. The workshops will include interactive activities and will support the students to explore each topic so that they can go on to produce an informative poster on a topic related to their studies.
Following the Outreach Hub visit, the students will continue to work on their information poster at school/college and will submit them to the Outreach Hub by a given date. Based on guidance from the CASES Outreach Panel, the Outreach Hub will judge the posters from the schools and colleges to select a winning poster. Each Outreach Hub winning poster is then submitted to the CASES Outreach Panel who will judge the posters and select a national winner.
The national winning school/college will win a prize that will include either a visit from a high-performance coach or athlete, or an experience day at the Hub University, or the purchase of some sport science equipment. The winning poster will be promoted across the CASES channels. We envisage that each Outreach Hub can run this competition alongside their ongoing outreach provision.
We also have other opportunities for Outreach Hubs to be involved in that include:
- Outreach at CASES conference
- CASES public webinars
What institution can be an Outreach Hub?
- Institutions with a CASES endorsed programme (undergrad or postgrad) and/or laboratory.
- Individuals who have CASES accreditation and/or are CASES Fellows but based at an institution without a CASES endorsed undergrad or postgrad programme CAN also apply.
If you would like your institution to be an Outreach Hub for this project, please complete the Expression of Interest form by 30 June 2026.
To discuss the opportunity further, please contact the Chair of the CASES Outreach Panel, Prof John Dickinson FCASES (J.W.Dickinson@kent.ac.uk).
