Release of the First Ever International Sport Science Professional Standards
26th March 2026
The International Confederation of Sport and Exercise Science Practice (ICSESP) is proud to have led a landmark global initiative to establish International Sport Science Professional Standards. Launched in May 2024, the project brought together world‑leading expertise through a dedicated Steering Committee and an international Working Group representing 16 countries.

Using a rigorous, evidence‑based and consensus‑driven approach, experts have collaborated to shape standards that reflect best practice across diverse regions and professional contexts. This initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening professional credibility, consistency and global recognition for sport science, providing a strong foundation for the future growth and development of the profession worldwide.
Drs Matthew Wright MCASES and Paul Jones FCASES from the CASES Accreditation Advisory Group were members of the expert Working Group and Dr Andrew Scott FCASES, the CASES-nominated Director of the International Confederation of Sport and Exercise Science Practice, was a member of the Steering Committee.
The role of the standards is to promote standardised education and training practice in sport science within UK sport science degrees, and to facilitate international collaboration and probability of CASES Accreditation.
