Supervision approach

My approach is like climbing a mountain. My role is to watch out for you - bad weather, dangerous areas you might slip, a track you should take or a hut to use as a rest stop. I’m not able to do this by standing on top of your mountain, looking down. I’m able to help because I’m on my own mountain, across the valley. You can look from your mountain and see what equipment I’ve used, what tracks I’ve taken while also alerting me of any potential threats of different sections you see.

To me, supervision is experiential. There is merit in intellectually discussing your experiences, which we will do, of course, but I believe that true values come from providing a space to learn to work with the challenges of your journey. My approach allows me to use supervision sessions as a vehicle for change and growth with my supervisees.

My role is to find the balance between attunement and disruption. This is in the service of leveraging your strengths, achieving your development goals, and continuing beyond SEPAR as a competent practitioner with all the resources you need to be successful in the sport and exercise psychology field.
