CASES Diversity Data monitoring 2026

22nd May 2026

At the point of joining CASES, and again during annual membership renewals, members are asked to complete a short diversity data form. This form captures information on protected characteristics, with an option to select ‘prefer not to say’. All data is stored securely and anonymously. Collecting this information is vital for promoting an inclusive environment and gaining a clearer understanding of the diversity within our membership. Following the release of our initial diversity infographic in 2024, we are now able to compare data year-on-year. For example, in 2026 we observed a decrease in total membership, primarily due to a decline in student members. Encouragingly, the number of unanswered questions has decreased, suggesting increased confidence in the confidentiality of the survey and a growing openness among CASES members.

Please see here for an analysis of the 2026 survey. Please see here for the analysis of the 2025 data. The 2024 data can be found here.

Dr Laura Johnson MCASES (Laura.Johnson@edgehill.ac.uk) and Dr Richard Buscombe MCASES (R.M.Buscombe@uel.ac.uk) from the EDI Advisory Group said, “This year’s survey data has continued to inform discussions within our EDI Advisory Group and, like last year, has also been shared with the CASES Board. Understanding the profile of our membership enables us to focus our EDI initiatives as we continue working towards an open, inclusive and welcoming Association. This year, we have also included additional analysis and summary data relating to the geographic location of UK members and Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), helping to further strengthen our understanding of the communities represented within CASES.”
