Environmental Extremes Special Interest Group
2nd July 2025
Drs Ash Willmott MCASES and Neil Maxwell HonFCASES are establishing a new Special Interest Group (SIG) within CASES, focused on Environmental Extremes, and will cover areas of Human Health, Occupation and Performance Sport.
The SIG aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, educators and students alike, who are CASES members and working / interested in this field to exchange evidence-informed practice/research, foster collaboration, organise workshops/webinars, write informative TSES articles and address real-world problems in association with the Climate Action and Sustainability Advisory Group (CASAG).
The SIG will span several themes such as heat and cold stress, climate health, adaptation and resilience strategies, water safety, space, air pollution and altitude exposure.
Ash and Neil are looking for multiple CASES members to get involved, from undergraduates/postgraduates, and early career researchers/practitioners to those more experienced in the field of Environmental Extremes. They are also seeking Steering Group leads for the SIG themes.
If you are interested and would like to get involved — whether on the Steering Group and/or as a member of the SIG — please email Ash on Ash.willmott@aru.ac.uk by 1 September 2025 with:
- Your name, current role and institution,
- CASES membership number, and,
- A short (~100-200 word) overview outlining your interests aligned to the SIG and ideas on how you'd like to see this SIG develop.
Ash and Neil look forward to hearing from those interested CASES members by 1 September 2025.
